Peter Holsapple @ The Betsey Trotwood, London
June 13th 2026 (afternoon gig)
Armed with only an acoustic guitar and his self-effacing wit, Peter Holsapple enthralled a sold-out Betsey Trotwood promoting his latest LP The Face Of ‘68. Opening with a rousing Next To The Last Waltz, over two sets and twenty-three songs Peter travelled across his entire oeuvre from his time with The dB’s and The Continental Drifters through to more recent solo LPs. Sensitive backing was provided by Pat Thomas on percussion / cajon and pianist James Hallawell (The Waterboys). The quality of dB songs Lonely Is (As Lonely Does), Big Brown Eyes and Molly Says still resonates today. Angels (not that one) was a real tear-jerker before the Bo Diddley beat of Amplifier ended the afternoon. Support was provided by Pat reciting his witty poems over James’ endlessly inventive melodies.
